Frequently Asked Questions?

01 Are your studios custom or pre-designed?

Our studios are architecturally defined models. Each model has a fixed form and structure, while clients configure how the space is used—such as an office, wellness studio, ADU, or social space—within that framework

03 How are your studios built?

Our studios are constructed using a panelized system fabricated in-house and delivered flat-packed for onsite installation. This approach allows for precision, consistency, and faster build timelines without sacrificing quality

02 Can I design my own layout or floor plan?

Rather than starting from a blank sheet, we guide clients through proven layouts and configurations that are designed to perform well structurally, build efficiently, and maintain a consistent level of quality. Within those layouts, you still have flexibility to customize finishes, features, and details to suit your needs.

06 What is your payment structure?

We require a 20% deposit to begin, followed by milestone-based payments tied to design lock, fabrication, installation, and completion. Delivery and logistics are billed separately.

04 Do you handle permits and inspections?

Yes. We coordinate permitting and inspections through approved local general contractors and licensed trade partners, as required by jurisdiction.

07 Do you offer financing?

We do not offer in-house financing. Some clients choose to work with third-party renovation lenders, such as RenoFi, to fund their project. Any financing must align with our milestone-based payment structure and does not replace required deposits or delivery payments.

08 What is included in the starting price?

Starting prices include a turnkey building, complete with the full structure, panel fabrication, onsite installation, and a finished interior and exterior using our standard materials and fixtures.

Many clients choose to personalize their space further. Optional upgrades, delivery, site-specific work, and interior design services are available and quoted separately based on your preferences and property conditions.

05 Can your studios be used as ADUs?

In many cases, yes. Our models can be configured to meet ADU requirements where zoning allows. ADU eligibility depends on local regulations, which we help evaluate early in the process.

09 How long does the process take?

We build with a defined process, milestone-based payments, and provide lien waivers at each payment stage. This ensures clarity, accountability, and trust throughout the project.

Timelines vary by model, size, permitting, and site conditions. Most projects move through design, fabrication, and installation in phases, with installation typically completed shortly after delivery.

Let’s Extend Your Home with Purpose

Every Studio House begins with a conversation.

Whether you’re exploring a detached home office in Charlotte, a golf simulator room in Raleigh, a wellness studio in Charleston, or an ADU in Greenville, our team is here to guide you through a clear and structured process.

We understand that adding space to your property is a meaningful investment. Our backyard studios are designed as permanent architectural additions — built with engineered wood framing and installed to meet residential building standards. This is not a temporary structure. It’s an intentional extension of your home.

During your design consultation, we’ll discuss your goals, how you plan to use the space, your property layout, investment range, and timeline. From there, we provide a curated studio recommendation aligned with your vision and location requirements in North Carolina or South Carolina.

If you’re ready to create a dedicated workspace, private retreat, guest suite, or golf simulator room without the disruption of a full home addition, we invite you to schedule your consultation below.

The Studio House Co. proudly serves homeowners across NC and SC with a refined, professional approach from consultation through installation.

Let’s build something permanent.
